We are looking for a support worker to join our community team for adults who have a learning disability, mental illness and/or challenging behaviour across East Suffolk.Are you passionate about the development and transformation of services for people with a Learning Disability?Do you want to be part of developing an ongoing service that was rated 'Good' by the CQC?Do you have a flair for engaging positively with adults with a learning disability, their families and wider networks?We are seeking a flexible, committed, and driven individual. You will have an understanding of the particular barriers faced by our service users and their families,and an awareness of a range of interventions and their delivery. You will be able to demonstrate skills and ability in engaging people who have a learning disability, mental illness and/or challenging behaviours, their families, carers and wider systems.You will be able to demonstrate an awareness and value in early identification and intervention and the importance of physical health and wellbeing and how to promote these.You will be passionate and able to demonstrate an understanding as to why people should be supported to maximise their potential and achieve their highest outcomes by remaining in their home, school, workplace and local community. In this role you will be working directly with service users and families across these environments, on a day to day basis. Your work will support the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support plans and assessment and supporting individuals in the community.You will have experience in working as part of a skilled, experienced and supportive multidisciplinary team.An ability to be self-motivated, as well as be able to work as part of a team is vital.Team development is valued and clinical team meetings will be strongly embedded in the culture of the team. You would receive regular supervision within the Trust supervision model.The post holder will demonstrate skills in developing and supporting the preferred method of communication for individuals, which may include developing easy read information and resources.Our Learning Disability Mental Health service is for adults across East Suffolk. It is an exciting time to join the service, as we are undergoing transformation and development plans with other key agencies and development such as the CCG and NHSI England. We value multi-agency collaborative working and aspire to values from Future In Mind, such as service user participation and ensuring appropriate and evidence based services for the we see.You will be based at Mariner House Ipswich initially but will be required to work flexibly across East Suffolk. You will be committed to developing high quality standard of work and able to demonstrate excellent communication skills.We will provide a full induction on recruitment.We have a genuine commitment to training and development with an extensive teaching matrix and protected time for managerial and clinical supervision supported by psychology input. Staff working within Learning Disability also have the opportunity to access the LD knowledge and skills framework. You should expect to access all relevant sector specific qualifications for your role whilst in this post. The Foundation qualification for support staff is the Care Certificate which will form part of your induction into the Trust and must be achieved within the first 12 weeks of employment.

This update service is an annual subscription at a cost of £13 to you. This will enable the Trust to have instant online access to your DBS record, with your consent, and so will remove the need for you to have to apply for this repeat check again.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
