We are looking to recruit an ICT Service Desk Apprentice. You will be friendly, hardworking, and have a passion for ICT. You will be motivated to use this opportunity to start and develop your career in IT Support, and beyond!

The Service Desk is the single point of contact for all ICT related incidents and service requests.  The goal of the Service Desk is to facilitate the restoration of normal operational service with minimal business impact on the Trust within agreed service levels and clinical / business priorities.  The Service Desk also provides a mechanism for users to request and receive pre-defined; pre-authorised standard services, for example, new starters, new hardware requests, and/or new software requests.  Other teams in the ICT Department, such as Field Support, Systems Support, Information Governance and Infrastructure, support the Service Desk. 

The Service Delivery Team consists of: 

  • The Service Desk Team
  • Service Desk Team Leader
  • IT Support Analysts
  • Principal IT Support Analyst
  • Field Support Team
  • Field Support Team Leader
  • Service Delivery Manager

The vision of the Service Delivery Team is to become a centre of excellence that provides IT support and services that are business aligned, performance-driven, customer focused and adhering to industry best practice.  The team is to embrace the Trust values and to demonstrate these in their day-to-day work, making a difference in everything that they do – “Transforming Care Through Technology…”

As an Apprentice, you will be required to assist with the provision of a comprehensive and effective service to support the smooth and efficient running of the Service Desk. You will also be required to communicate effectively and courteously with a range of internal/external personnel and work as part of a team within the service support function delivering a high-quality service on behalf of the Trust.

The ICT Service Desk is based at Hellesdon Hospital and working hours will be 37.5 per week. Occasional travel may be required.

You will enrol with a local education provider and complete the Level 3 ICT Infrastructure Technician qualification over the 18-month appointment. This will be delivered as work-based learning.

There are eligibility criteria for government-funded apprenticeship schemes that apply and therefore applicants must be aged 16 or over and have been resident in the UK/EU for the last 3 years; must not have a Degree, Level 4 qualification or above or already be in any form of formal government-funded education.
