We would like to offer you the opportunity to be a part of a new and exciting Perinatal Mental Health service. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Perinatal Mental Health service.

Initially the post is for 9 months to cover maternity leave this will include working in the 8 bedded Mother and Baby Unit and Community perinatal team in Norfolk and Waveney. After the first 9 months a permenant post will be found either within the perinatal service or in Child Family and Young Person service.

We are looking for someone to establish the Occupational therapy program on the recently opened MBU working closely with the ward team including nursery nurses, mental health nurses and psychology, and to support the existing OT provision in our community team.

The perinatal period is a crucial/vulnerable time for woman as one in five women experience post or antenatal depression, anxiety or in some cases severe mental illness such as psychosis during pregnancy or in the first year after childbirth.

The long term benefits of this kind of specialist care offers early help and support to parents in order for them to build a health bond with their little ones. Supports parents to manage the mental challenges that may emerge in the early stage of their infant’s life and improves outcomes for the child.
