The Dragonfly Unit which is an inpatient facility at Carlton Court, Lowestoft offering services to young people who cannot be supported in the community.

We have twice been rated as outstanding from CQC in July 2017 and 2018, putting us in the top 7% of CAMHS unit’s in the UK.

This children and young people’s service opened in September 2016 and was developed as a centre of excellence so that NSFT can provide more specialist care closer to home, in turn reducing the number of 12 to 18-year-olds who need to travel out of the area for treatment.

This new unit, with the hugely improved facilities, and room for visiting families and carers, has been vital to offering an improved outcome for our young people. As well as the en-suite bedrooms, there are three school rooms, a gym to boost young people’s recovery, and a fully equipped therapy suite.

Group therapy is important for the social interaction of our young people and isolation can be detrimental to their recovery. So all of these specialised facilities have enabled us to better structure and plan the therapies on offer and use the space for group work.

This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody with a passion for improving services for young people and would encourage anyone interested to contact us to discuss this opportunity. We are keen to hear from dedicated and enthusiastic nurses who would like to work flexibly and creatively within our experienced team.

You will have regular clinical and management supervision with a yearly appraisal to discuss your goals and aspirations plus working for the NHS you will get a yearly pay review. We have Unit Study Days every month and newly qualified nurses will join the Newly Qualified Training Academy, which meets every two weeks.

We have also developed an enhanced preceptorship programme with the opportunity to spend time with the paediatric team at the local district general hospital. Successful applicants may be eligible for up to £5000 in relocation packages.
