Following the success of two Primary Mental Health Workers (PMHW) in securing therapeutic training and a specific therapeutic role, our Under 18's Primary Mental Health Service within Wellbeing is seeking to recruit two Primary Mental Health Workers to work with children, young people and their families focussing on the importance of early intervention in children’s mental health. A Primary Mental Health Worker offers consultation and training, runs groups for parents, presents webinars on childrens mental health and undertakes assessments and direct work with children, young people and families. This is a varied and interesting role in which you will have support to develop your skills.
Primary Mental Health Workers work alongside Assistant Psychologists, Childrens Wellbeing Practitioners, CBT therapists and Counsellors in the service.The Under 18's service works with children and young people under the age of 5, up to 18 (exceptionally to 25). We can be flexible about recruiting part time applicants where this is appropriate for the service and suggested by the experience and skills of successful applicants. Our team is positive, innovative and developing.Our service is available on weekdays from 9am-5pm in general, but working from 8am or up to 8pm may be required on an occasional preplanned basis.You would provide consultation to professionals, training on child mental health, mental health and systemic assessments, and undertake short term therapeutic interventions with children, young people and families. The successful candidate will have responsibility for proactively linking up with other professionals, supporting our colleagues in other agencies and in particular in schools in their work with children and young people and the effective management of a community caseload. You will lead in the development of local CAMHS training initiatives. Reflecting a jointly commissioned post, you will work in collaboration with colleagues from health, education, social care teams, youth offending and the voluntary sector and this could include joint assessments with other professionals.This role will be based largely in East Suffolk and you will be linked with a specific local area for whom you will be the named Primary Mental Health Worker. As we are a county wide service, for meetings and training you will need to travel to Bury St Edmunds and other locations on occasion although you will be based in Ipswich.Applicants will have a strong commitment to inclusive, compassionate practice that enables service users to realise their potential within a culture of patient safety and innovative practice. This update service is an annual subscription at a cost of £13 to you. This will enable the Trust to have instant online access to your DBS record, with your consent, and so will remove the need for you to have to apply for this repeat check again.
