We have a vacancy in the Older People’s team at Coastal IDT. We would welcome applications from newly qualified Clinical Psychologists who are looking to work 4 days a week and can demonstrate a commitment and passion for working with older people.  We also welcome applications from experienced Clinical Psychologists.

We want to hear from you if you are a dedicated, flexible, forward thinking Clinical Psychologist, with clinical skills and experience in working with older people with complex mental health difficulties, including difficulties relating to attachment issues and trauma and Dementia, including Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD).

Your role will include a mixture of a direct clinical work, groups, consultation, supervision, training and evaluation, to ensure the team has the widest possible impact. 

We will want you to provide a specialist clinical psychology assessment of individuals, carers and families referred to the Older People’s team, using and interpreting complex psychological data from a variety of sources. This will include neuropsychological assessment and formulation. You will also provide formulation and implementation of formal psychological treatment and/or management plans, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the service user.  You will also be responsible for supporting and developing team formulation and the implementation of a range of psychological interventions for service users, and, where appropriate, carers and families.

You will need to make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about treatment options taking into account theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes and provide specialist clinical psychology expertise, knowledge, advice and guidance to facilitate the effective and appropriate provision of psychological care.

You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team which includes nurses, occupational therapists, assistant practitioners and social workers.  There will also be opportunities to link with other clinical psychologists in the specialism across older people’s services in East Suffolk.
