  • This is a great opportunity for a pro-active and enthusiastic individual to join our Occupational Therapy team as a Band 4 Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner. Applications from individuals currently completing their Assistant Practitioner foundation degree are encouraged. Applications from individuals without an Assistant Practitioner foundation degree qualification will be considered if they hold one of the following qualifications:

    Psychology Degree
    Nursing Degree or Nursing Diploma
    Occupational Therapist
    Social Worker diploma/degree


    The post holder will require excellent communication skills and value working collaboratively as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.

    They will support the delivery and development of the Occupational Therapy programme on our eighteen-bed acute mental health ward and in the local community, promoting recovery and social inclusion. This will include encouraging service users to use our on-site gym safely and in line with their goals and abilities.

    There will be opportunities to work with service users from the adult in-patient mental health service as well as with individuals under the care of the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHT) in both group and one-to-one interactions. Great Yarmouth and Waveney Acute Services offers a unique and innovative programme of prescribed OT sessions and groups to people under the care of CRHT.

    The post holder will support registered staff to use evidence-based and recovery-centred approaches to assess individuals as well as plan, implement and review interventions both on the ward and in community settings.

    You will work under the supervision of one registered Occupational Therapist's and in accordance with our professional standards of practice.
