Inpatient Mental Health Roles - Wedgwood House, Bury St Edmunds

Crisis Response/Psychiatric Liaison

Crisis Response is a multi-disciplinary team who respond to crisis and urgent referrals within measured time frames, conducting mental health telephone triage, through to full holistic mental health assessments, both within healthcare or home environments.

Working closely with West Suffolk Hospital our Psychiatric Liaison Service works as a single point of access for referrals and provides a range of mental health specialties within one multidisciplinary team to patients aged 13 years and over. Our teams respond to a diverse range of referrals covering both the Liaison and Emergency assessment functions. 

About You

For this, you will be suitably qualified/registered as a nurse and be able to evidence your knowledge of mental health by your level of experience in autonomous and multi-disciplinary team working.  Proven clinical judgement and the ability to competently assess risk and formulate risk management plans will be essential as will your excellent communication, analytical and decision making skills.

In all roles we offer a supportive team environment where you will develop your own knowledge of psychosocial interventions and positive health promotion, with first hand experience of engaging service users within an inpatient setting.

About Us

Wedgwood House is a mental health inpatient unit situated behind the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds. The three wards provide assessment and treatment services for acute mental disorders and rehabilitation including depression, bipolar, psychosis, dementia and crisis resolution:

Our primary focus is on collaborative working; placing great emphasis on the assessment/recovery model. Many aspects relating to service user recovery is reflected within the assessment tools the patients and staff use and the philosophy that underpins patient centred care.

Our staff support network includes protected time and unit wellbeing sessions.  You will be given regular supervision and have an opportunity to use the onsite gym. There are excellent developmental opportunities should you wish to progress.
