Inpatient (10PAs)-West Suffolk

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust was founded in January 2012 coming together from Norfolk & Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Suffolk Mental Health Partnership. West Suffolk mental health services serve a population of approximately 275,000 people.

An opportunity has arisen to appoint to appoint a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist in the West of Suffolk, in the acute adult inpatient services which is 10 sessions.

Acute Inpatient:
Inpatient and Home Treatment facilities are based at Wedgwood House, West Suffolk Hospital. There are two acute adult wards comprising a 16 bedded Triage ward and a twenty one 21 bedded Treatment ward which is where the post is based. There are close working relationships between the two wards.

West Suffolk is a predominantly rural area but with good rail and road links to London, and, via the coastal ports and Stansted airport, to Europe and further afield! Local economy is based on light industry and farming. Bury St Edmunds is the largest of the market towns in the west of Suffolk, forming the centre of a ring of attractive market towns.

Applicants for the post should have or be eligible for a CCT and eligible onto the Specialist Register within six months of the interview date. Full GMC registration, approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act, eligibility for Approved Clinician status and appropriate adult psychiatry experience are required.
